Visitors
All visitors must enter through the front doors to sign in at the front office with a photo ID AND wear a visitor tag while in the building. When leaving, please exit through the office and turn in your visitor sticker. Thank you for visiting our school!
Lunch Visitors
If you are visiting our campus to have lunch with your Falcon, please wait for your student in the cafeteria and sit at the designated visitor table. Other students may not join you during this time. Visitors are welcome to bring in outside food for themselves and their Falcon, but it may not be shared with other students. After lunch, please check out immediately in the office and do not go to other parts of the building, including classrooms or the playground. Thank you for following these safety procedures.

Student Absences
If your child is absent from school, please email his/her excuse or send a paper copy to your child's homeroom teacher to let her know why your child was absent. Absences can only be excused if a written note, doctor's note, or email is received. Please do not send Remind or text messages regarding your child's absence.
EMS Student Handbook states: Absences are excused for illness, appointments with a health care professional (with a note or receipt from the health care professional), serious illness or death of a member of the student’s immediate family, or an emergency that prevents the student from being in school. A school administrator may excuse an absence for reasons other than those above, on an individual basis. In the case of prior knowledge of an absence, a parent should submit a written request to the principal for an excused absence stating the exact dates the student will be absent and the special circumstances.

Tardies
Just a friendly reminder that school starts at 7:30 am. Please drop your child at school no later than 7:25 to allow for time to walk to his or her classroom. Students who are not inside the building at 7:30 am are considered tardy and must check in through the front office to get a tardy pass.
-
Walkers and Bike Riders
Students are given 'free release' if parents indicate the student is a walker or bike rider. This means that we do not verify that a child is united with their parent/guardian before leaving campus. When making a family decision about your child's dismissal method, please consider his or her readiness for a safe, independent walk home.

Cell Phone Policy
No student cell phones, air pods, or Bluetooth headphones will be allowed during the school day. Cell phones must be turned off and stored in a teacher cabinet from 7:30 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.
If there is a medical reason for a student to be in possession of a cell phone, it must be documented in a 504 or health plan.
We understand it is difficult to feel out of touch, but parents can call the office to relay messages to students or reach their students by teacher email. Some of the difficulties we face with cell phones being used by students include the possibility of:
- Students using phones during class and disrupting the learning environment for themselves or others
- Students taking pictures in the classroom of other students without permission and posting to social media
- Students taking pictures/videos and posting to TikTok during the school day
- Students participating in group texts/chats during the day to make fun of other students and teachers
Thank you for your support as we continuously strive to educate your child in a safe environment that is free from distractions.

Birthdays
We would love to celebrate your Falcons on their birthday! You may send or drop off store-bought cupcakes or cookies in the office for your Falcon to share with their class at the end of the day. Please do not send drinks or other party favors. We cannot hold parties and parents and siblings may not go to the classrooms for this activity. Please check with your child's teacher for more details.
